Ink
Solid ink for preparing several densities, or liquid ink for immediate use.
Inks, ink sticks and ink stones, papers, brushes, nibs and supports for working with letters, lines and ink wash.
Solid ink calligraphy allows gradual control of black density, fluidity and transparency according to the amount of water, ink preparation and pressure applied through the tool. Each item is selected according to its use, compatibility with the surface and the type of mark required.
Beginning calligraphy
Ink, compatible paper and a suitable brush or nib are enough to begin working with line, pressure and variations in density.
Solid ink for preparing several densities, or liquid ink for immediate use.
Less absorbent for a sharp line, or more absorbent to encourage diffusion.
A brush for flexible variations; a nib for a more structured line.
Composition no. 01 — Solid ink
The line comes afterwards.
Before it: the stick, the stone, water and the brush.
First practice
The ink stick, ink stone, brush and dish are used to prepare the ink, adjust its density and understand how it reacts on paper. This composition brings together the essentials for beginning calligraphy and solid-ink wash painting.
Composition no. 02 — Ink & variations
A composition for those who want to deepen their ink practice, prepare more variations and extend the range of possible marks.
Colours, dilutions, formats and complementary tools for developing a more structured practice.
Going further
This composition makes it possible to prepare several inks at once, compare densities and match the brush to the scale of the mark. It suits a regular practice of calligraphy, ink drawing and wash painting.
