Before the first stroke, the ink must be prepared. A few drops of water on the inkstone, the ink stick rubbed slowly, then the brush depositing its black ink on the paper. This set invites you to discover the traditional techniques of Chinese calligraphy and ink painting.
Presented in an embroidered fabric box, it brings together the tools to begin learning brush calligraphy, sumi-e, and ink wash painting. Four brushes of different sizes allow you to explore the fineness of the stroke, variations in pressure, and the nuances of the ink.

INFORMATION
In the Chinese literary tradition, the Four Treasures refer to the brush, ink, paper, and inkstone. This set brings together three of these elements, along with accessories for preparing the ink and practicing your first strokes.
Solid ink is prepared with water on the inkstone. Its concentration allows you to go from a deep black to lighter grays, depending on the dilution.

- Inkstone: 1 round inkstone for grinding and preparing the ink
- Ink: 1 solid ink stick

The seal requires carving and seal paste to be used as a signature.
PREPARING THE INK
1. Add water — Place a few drops on the inkstone.
2. Grind the ink — Gently rub the ink stick on the inkstone, using steady movements, until you achieve the desired concentration.
3. Adjust — Test your brush on a sheet of paper. Add a little water to lighten the ink or continue grinding to deepen the black.
USE & CARE
Slightly dampen the brushes before use. Vary the pressure and angle to achieve fine, broad, or more diffused strokes.
After each session, rinse the brushes and the inkstone with clean water. Allow the items to dry completely before storing them in the box.
