Choosing writing tools
Write comfortably, page after page.
Pen weight, barrel diameter, grip shape, ink flow and paper texture all directly affect writing comfort. A suitable instrument makes it easier to write for longer, with less tension in the hand and a more consistent line.
The notebook
A small format is easy to carry. A larger notebook leaves more room for long-form writing, research and studio notes.
The paper
Smooth paper helps a fountain-pen nib move easily. More textured paper suits graphite, sketching and drier writing tools.
Tip: test a pen over a full page. Weight, grip and ink flow become much easier to assess after several minutes of writing.
