Blue Dragon Ceramic Brush Rest – Calligraphy, Sumi-e, and Ink Painting

This ceramic brush rest allows you to set down a brush between strokes, without staining the paper, dirtying the table, or crushing the tip.

It supports ink practices, calligraphy, sumi-e, watercolor, and brush drawing. Placed near an inkstone, palette, or paint pot, it keeps the tool accessible during your session.

Its Blue Dragon shape provides a more distinctive presence than a simple straight holder, while remaining useful: the brush rests above the surface, the tip doesn't touch the table, and the workspace remains cleaner.

INFORMATION

A brush rest is useful during sessions where you alternate between drawing, diluting, pausing, and resuming. It prevents you from placing the brush directly on the paper or on a wet surface.

It is particularly suitable for ink brushes, calligraphy brushes, soft brushes, fine brushes, or tools used with liquid pigments.

Its ceramic material is easy to clean after use. It remains stable on the table and helps to create a cleaner ink space around the paper, inkstone, and brushes.

FEATURES

Material: ceramic
Dimensions: 17.5 × 3.7 × 5.7 cm
Weight: approximately 260 g
Usage: calligraphy, sumi-e, ink painting, watercolor, brush drawing
Function: to rest, separate, and protect brushes during a session

USE & CARE

Place the brush rest next to the inkstone, palette, or paint pot, slightly set back from the paper. The brush remains accessible without risking ink getting on the work surface.

After use, rinse or wipe the ceramic if ink, watercolor, or gouache has settled on the surface. Use a soft sponge or a damp cloth, without harsh abrasives.

Allow to dry completely before storage. Avoid impact with heavy or metallic objects to preserve the ceramic and the details of the relief.

COMPLEMENTARY TOOLS

For a complete ink practice, this brush rest can be combined with the 7.5 cm inkstone and ink sticks.

For working on lines, washes, or calligraphy, it can accompany the traditional rabbit hair calligraphy brush or the set of 3 Chinese calligraphy brushes.

🤍 Ikane Workshop Tip
Place it next to the inkstone or palette, slightly set back from the paper. The brush remains accessible, the tip does not touch the table, and the session can resume without interruption.
