3 mm Number Punches – for marking metal, leather, and wood
This set of punches allows you to mark numbers from 0 to 9 directly into various materials: metal, leather, soft wood, plates, jewelry, workshop tags, or small items for personalization.
Each punch is placed against the surface and then struck with a hammer to create an indented impression. The marking becomes physical, clear, and durable: a date, a serial number, a reference, a unique piece, or a trace left on the object.
The 3 mm size provides a discreet result, suitable for small items: jewelry, metal plates, tools, notebooks, leather pieces, tags, workshop objects, or limited editions.
Information
These punches are designed to engrave durable information into resistant materials. They allow you to number a series, date a creation, mark a reference, or personalize a piece without the need for ink or labels.
The action must be precise: hold the punch perfectly vertical against a stable surface, then strike it with a single, clean blow. Testing on a scrap piece of material is recommended before marking a final piece.
On leather or soft wood, the impression forms more easily. On metal, an appropriate striking surface must be used, and the surface must be checked to ensure it can receive this type of marking.
Features
Type: Number punch set
Characters: Numbers 0 to 9
Character size: 3 mm
Material: Chrome-vanadium steel
Application: Manual hammering
Use: Marking on metal, leather, soft wood, plates, jewelry, tags, and workshop items
Usage & Precautions
Place the piece to be marked on a stable, flat, and resistant surface. Position the punch straight, check the orientation of the number, then strike once with a firm motion.
To maintain a regular line, draw a very light guide before starting. For number series, mark slowly, number by number, rather than trying to rush.
Pay particular attention to your fingers during striking. Use an appropriate hammer, avoid unstable surfaces, and always test the pressure on a scrap piece of metal, leather, or wood before the final piece.
🤍 Ikane Workshop Tip
For a clean mark, first prepare the alignment. A single, sharp strike often yields a more legible impression than several hesitant blows. On leather, slightly dampening the area can help the material receive the number with greater clarity.
