INFORMATION
This set is suitable for both learning and regular practice. It allows you to compare different ink capacities, line widths, and fiber responses on the same paper.
The longer and wider the fiber part, the more liquid the brush retains and the longer the stroke. The small brush is more suited for short strokes and details; the large one better supports broad gestures, solid areas, and washes.
The stained wood handles remain light in hand. The box allows you to keep all three sizes together, provided the brushes are always stored perfectly dry.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT BRUSH
Small size — 3.7 cm fibers: for small characters, details, short strokes, and exercises requiring little ink capacity.
Medium size — 4.3 cm fibers: the most versatile for common exercises, changes of direction, and pressure variations.
Large size — 5 cm fibers: for large characters, broad strokes, solid areas, and washes requiring more water or ink.
On Xuan paper, an untreated paper diffuses quickly and requires a decisive stroke. Semi-treated paper slows down the ink and facilitates learning pressure control.
PREPARATION & MAINTENANCE
Before first use, soften the fibers in cold or slightly warm water if they are still sized. Then remove excess water without twisting the tip.
Gradually load the ink or wash, then test the brush on a scrap of the same paper. This allows you to observe the reservoir, diffusion, and tip return before the final stroke.
After use, rinse the fibers in clear water until the color disappears. Gently reshape the tip with your fingers, without pulling or pressing too hard.
Let dry flat or suspended, then replace the brushes in the box only when they are perfectly dry.
PAIR WITH
To prepare traditional ink, this set can be paired with the Mosong traditional ink stick, the ink stick set or the 7.5 cm inkstone for beginners.
To organize several dilutions during your session, it can be combined with the ceramic compartment palette or the compartmented ceramic palette.
To work on line diffusion, use it with handmade Xuan paper, semi-ripe Xuan paper or the semi-treated plant fiber workshop roll.
To rest brushes between strokes or dry them properly, you can consult the jade effect ceramic brush rest or the hanging calligraphy brush holder.

Draw the same line with all three brushes, using ink of the same density. You will immediately see which one best retains its tip, which extends the stroke, and which gives you the desired control.
