Set of 6 Modeling Tools – Hardwood and Stainless Steel for Clay, Wax, and Finishing
This set of 6 modeling tools features various profiles for working with clay, ceramics, wax, plaster, or polymer clay, from material removal to surface finishing.
Each end serves a specific purpose: opening a line, digging a cavity, removing excess material, softening a transition, reshaping an angle, or cleaning a contour.
The hardwood handles provide a stable grip, while the stainless steel metal parts offer the necessary rigidity for clean cuts and gradual adjustments.
INFORMATION
This set is suitable for refining, removing, and precision work. It allows you to modify an already built form to adjust volumes, correct an edge, draw a line, or rework a surface before drying.
The metal ends are useful for digging, removing, marking, or cutting more decisively. The wooden areas allow for softer contact with the material, especially for smoothing, softening, or reworking without tearing the surface too much.
The result depends on the moisture content of the clay or the flexibility of the material being worked. Very soft material deforms easily; firmer material allows for sharper lines and more stable details.
FEATURES
Content: 6 tools
Materials: Hardwood and stainless steel
Length: Approximately 15 to 19 cm depending on the model
Compatibility: Clay, ceramics, wax, plaster, polymer clay
Function: Digging, smoothing, incising, removing, marking, correcting, and refining volumes
USE & CARE
To remove material, work in gradual passes rather than too deep movements. This allows you to maintain volume control and avoid tearing.
On still soft clay, metal parts allow for clean removal and sharp lines. On a firmer surface, wooden tools help to smooth, soften, or rework without marking too strongly.
Clean tools after use before clay, plaster, or paste dries on the profiles. Rinse if necessary, then carefully dry metal parts and handles.
Store tools dry, away from prolonged moisture, to preserve the wood and stainless steel parts.
PAIR WITH
To build volumes before finishing, this set can complement the
9-piece modeling tool set,
which is more versatile for shaping, smoothing, and structuring clay.
To dig deeper or remove material in cavities, you can pair it with the
set of 4 hollow tools for clay and ceramics
or the
curved sculpture tool for clay.
For very fine adjustments, contours, and edges, it can be used with the
stainless steel clay finishing tool
or the
set of 8 aluminum precision tools.
To control proportions, diameters, or measurement transfers on a piece, you can also check out the
measuring and tracing caliper for ceramics.
🤍 Ikane Workshop Tip
Working with different moisture levels completely changes how the material reacts. On still soft clay, metal tools allow for clean removal; on a drier surface, wood helps to smooth and rework without tearing the texture.
