Watercolor masking fluid pen — preserve white areas of paper before painting.
This pen contains masking fluid designed to protect specific areas of paper when working with watercolor.
The liquid is applied directly to the areas to be kept white or unpainted. Once dry, it forms a temporary barrier that prevents water and pigments from penetrating the paper fibers.
After the watercolor dries, the fluid can be gently removed to reveal the white of the paper or the pre-prepared reserved areas.
The pen format allows for greater precision than a brush, especially for fine details, reflections, plant veins, light glints, lettering, or complex areas that are difficult to preserve manually.
Suitable for watercolor practices, botanical illustration, travel journals, and any work requiring crisp reserved areas before applying color.

🤍 Ikane Workshop Tip
Apply the fluid to perfectly dry paper and let it dry completely before adding watercolor. Remove it only when the color layers are entirely dry to avoid damaging the paper surface.
Unlike a marker or white ink, masking fluid does not color the paper. It temporarily protects certain areas to preserve the original white throughout the coloring phase.
