A5 Nomadic Artist Box – compact storage with tilting support for writing and drawing

This nomadic artist box allows you to gather a compact notebook, a few pencils, a pen, and the essential small tools for a short session outside the studio.

The lid transforms into a tilting support to hold a notebook during a sketch, note-taking, or preparatory work. The 22 × 15 × 6 cm format remains intentionally compact.

Its use is specific: it is suitable for a light and organized kit, not for carrying a complete set of painting materials. Rings, elastic bands, and clips keep essential tools in place.

INFORMATION

This box is used to keep essential tools together without carrying a separate pencil case, stand, and notebook. It is useful for short outings, quick sketches, field notes, or ideas to capture before they disappear.

Once opened, the lid can hold a compact notebook. The incline prevents working completely flat and improves paper visibility when the box is placed on a table, bench, or lap.

The adjustable and removable strap makes it easy to transport. It allows you to keep the box close to your body between drawing or writing stops.

FEATURES

Material: resin with wood imitation finish
Dimensions: 22 × 15 × 6 cm
Interior Fastening: 2 clips, 5 elastic rings, and 3 elastic bands
Lid: tilting support for compact notebook
Closure: bronze finish latch
Transport: adjustable and removable strap

CREATE YOUR KIT

For pencil sketching, plan for a compact notebook, an HB pencil, a softer pencil, an eraser, and a closed pencil sharpener. This basic set is sufficient for most short outings.

For writing and note-taking, choose a thin notebook, a main pen, and a second tool for annotations, markers, or line variations.

For a mixed kit, limit the set to two pencils, a pen, an eraser, and a few sheets held by the clips. An overloaded kit reduces available space and makes tools less accessible.

USE & CARE

Place the most used tools in the most accessible rings. Check that pencil tips and metal parts do not rub directly against the notebook.

Open the support on a stable surface before placing the notebook. Avoid overloading the lid with a notebook that is too heavy or too large.

After use, remove graphite, carbon, or dry pastel dust if necessary, then wipe the box with a soft, slightly damp cloth.

Avoid still-wet tools, open inks, and containers likely to leak: this box is designed for dry, compact, and clean materials to transport.

PAIR WITH

For a dry sketching kit, this box can accompany the black sketchpad with beige paper, the black carbon pencil set or the white charcoal pencils.

For a writing-oriented box, it can be paired with the brass and wood rotating ballpoint pen, the brass and wood fountain pen or the black constellation notebook.

For a very light color kit, you can add a few pencils from the 48-color grease pencil box, without filling the entire box.

To find tools related to drawing and handwriting, you can consult the Drawing and Writing selections.

🤍 Ikane workshop tip
Assemble a fixed kit and keep it ready to go: a notebook, two pencils, an eraser, and a pen. The fewer choices there are when going out, the more the box truly fulfills its role as a portable studio.
