White Charcoal Pencils – Set of 3 for Highlights, Lights and Dry Drawing
This set of 3 white charcoal pencils allows you to add highlights, lights, and light contrasts to a dry drawing, complementing charcoal, graphite, pastel, or carbon pencil.
The white, matte, and dry lead is particularly effective on grey, brown, black, or tinted paper. It helps to bring out volumes, define reflections, and strengthen luminous areas of a study.
Unlike a very opaque white pen, white charcoal is worked by pressure and layering. It allows for light touches, softer blends, and light integrated into the drawing material.
INFORMATION
The white charcoal pencil is useful for working on light values in a drawing constructed on tinted paper. It allows you to add lights after the shadows, without completely covering the texture of the support.
It is suitable for sketches, portraits, volume studies, still lifes, academic drawings, contrast research, and highlights on dark backgrounds.
The rendering depends on the paper's grain, the pressure applied, the number of layers, and the medium used underneath: charcoal, graphite, dry pastel, or carbon pencil.

USE & CARE
Preferably use at the end of the drawing, when shadows, mid-tones, and large masses are already established. White highlights should reinforce light, not replace the construction of volume.
Work with light touches, then gradually increase pressure if a stronger light is needed. On textured paper, several passes allow the white to build up without immediately saturating the grain.
Blend with caution: too much rubbing can dirty the light if the drawing already contains charcoal or carbon. To keep a clear bright spot, apply the white last.
Sharpen with an appropriate sharpener or blade, depending on the desired point. Protect the leads from shocks to limit breakage.
PAIR WITH
To work on blacks, shadows, and matte masses before highlights, these pencils can accompany the
set of black carbon pencils.
For value studies, sketches, and research on tinted paper, you can use them with the
black sketchbook with beige paper.
To build colored backgrounds, blends, and transitions before adding lights, they can complement the
box of 72 dry pastels in a wooden box.
